Lent starts this week, and Laurel Presbyterian Church is offering multiple options for worship, study, and self-discernment in the time before Easter. I want to highlight two opportunities happening this week.
Our Lenten study, Chocolate for Lent, begins with a viewing of the movie Chocolat on Tuesday at 12:30 and Thursday at 7:15. (Just choose one, not both!) This Lenten study uses the movie as a springboard to look at Lent and how we can grow in faith during times of discernment. Each week on Tuesdays at 12:30 and Thursdays at 7:15 we’ll gather together and discuss as scene from the movie and an associated passage of Scripture. The class runs from this Tuesday, February 21, through Thursday, April 5.
Lent formally kicks off with our Ash Wednesday Worship and Supper, beginning at 6 pm on February 22. We begin with a soup and bread supper and a time of fellowship as we prepare for worship at 7 pm which includes the imposition of ashes. Join us for this time of fellowship and centering as we enter into Lent together.
