The Session has called a meeting of the congregation to follow worship on Sunday, September 29 for the purpose of electing Gladys Chamberlayne as a new Ruling Elder. With her election, all the positions on the Session will now be filled. The Session consists of nine Ruling Elders, each serving a two-year term. A class of five ruling elders is elected one year; a class of four ruling elders is elected the next.
Gladys is a long-time member of Laurel and has served on the Session several times. She is currently serving as the Clerk of Session and will continue in that capacity if elected. (The Book of Order provides that a ruling elder who is not currently active in that role may still be elected the Session Clerk.) If you are a Laurel member, please join us for this brief but important meeting on the 29th.
