St. Francis of Assisi is often pictured with birds and nurturing other animals around him. He in fact is their patron saint in some religious circles. In recognition of his example as a faithful steward of animal life and as encouragement for us to follow in their care, we join many other congregations in holding a “Blessing of the Animals” this Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 am on the lawn next to the circular drive. There will be a brief service of worship featuring some fun songs and an opportunity for each animal to be blessed. Certificates of blessing and light refreshments will also be available. We ask that all pets be on a leash, held or in a carrier. This is a great activity for children and for our neighbors with pets!
