NEW RULING ELDERS INSTALLED AND ORDAINED

Last Sunday during worship, Carl Carpenter, Ann Whitby, Carolyn Stinger and Rudy van’t Riet (shown at an officer training event) were installed as ruling elders. Ann and Carolyn were ordained (Carl and Rudy having been previously ordained) in a rite that affirms their call as a ruling elder. Presbyterian ruling elders are ordained only once and retain their ordination for life or until they leave the Presbyterian Church (USA). The visible sign of ordination is the “laying on of hands” where all elders and ministers are invited to come forward to physically lay hands on the new elders pointing to our understanding that the Holy Spirit has set them aside for this ministry. The four new ruling elders had an opportunity to try out their new office as they met with our four continuing ruling elders and Covenant Pastor Mark Sprowl for a meeting of the Session immediately after worship. Please keep these new leaders in your prayers!
