This ancient Easter response echoed around the world last Sunday and also in the sanctuary of Laurel Church as we celebrated the world-changing news that “The tomb is empty!  Jesus is resurrected!”  The joy begin worship with our choir’s spirited choral introit, and continued with hearty singing of the great hymns of Easter including one from our new “Glory to God” hymnal, “In the Bulb There Is a Flower,” a lovely dance interpretation of “Lord of the Dance” as our sang and the pastor’s inspiring message which asked the question, “If the preacher didn’t show up on Easter, what ‘sermon’ might be given by the congregation?”  Children in worship joined the pastor at the front of the church as they used hand puppets to imagine what would happen if the Easter Bunny met Jesus, and they hunted on the lawn for Easter eggs at the conclusion of worship.  We give thanks for our risen Lord Jesus Christ and all the faithful helpers who called into service to prepare Laurel for the glory of Easter morning!
