TO THE CHURCH TRIUMPHANT: Lucille Hayes and Nancy Kinch

Friends, two members of Laurel have passed away recently – Nancy Kinch and Lucille Hayes. Nancy’s service was held out of town and Lucille’s service was held at Laurel where Rev. Richard Mahlmann officiated in my stead as I was out of town. Please keep their families in your prayers. I include obituaries for them below:
NANCY BAILY KINCH, age 90, died May 27, 2017 in Culpeper, VA. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis X. Kinch. Nancy was born August 22, 1926, in Charlotte Court House, VA, to the late Curry O. Bailey and Geneva T. Bailey. She lived in Culpeper County for 27 years, while married to Foster Cornwell. She was the Postmistress in Lakota, VA, for a short while. She worked for the National Security Agency for 27 years. After retiring, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where she owned and operated a flower shop. She later moved to Richmond, VA, and married Francis Kinch. They enjoyed extensive traveling in the states and abroad.
Nancy was a member of Laurel Presbyterian Church in Richmond. She was an active volunteer at the Virginia Home for Boys and Meals on Wheels.
In addition to her parents and step-mother, Lillian, Nancy was predeaceased by her sister, Louise Wilhoite; and brothers, Clifford and Thornton Bailey. She is survived by her son, George Cornwell and his wife, Cathy of Culpeper; a sister, Mamie Pugh of Charlotte Court House; and a half-brother, Curry Bailey of Aylett. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Cindy Cornwell Thomas and her husband, Chris; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Kelly Thomas all of New Jersey. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service was held on Friday, June 2, 2017, in Rough Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA, is serving the family.
HAYES, Lucille Rigsby Compton, 93, of Henrico, died May 25, 2017. She was preceded in death by husbands, Noah A. Compton Jr. and Hugh M. Hayes; siblings, Helen Gammon, Zelma Lloyd, Ethel Estes, Edna Ford, Cecil Rigsby and Henry Rigsby. She is survived by two daughters, Diane Boucher (Don) and Teresa Wingold (Charlie); three grandchildren, Jessica Blackburn, Bryan Wingold (Tracey), Laura Wingold; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2017, at Bliley’s-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, 11 a.m., at Laurel Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Laurel Presbyterian Church.
