Those in worship on the morning of Sunday, December 16 were truly blessed by the lovely presentation of the Christmas cantata, “Christmas Presence: A Gathering of Hope, Peace and Love.” The Laurel Choir, under the direction of David Clatterbuck, sang eight choral pieces that recalled the mystery and miracle of Jesus’ birth. These included the moving, “Still They Are Here,” which reminded us of the warmth that remains in our hearts for those no longer with us at this holy season. The choir sang this year to a recorded soundtrack which incorporated beautiful instrumentation into the performance: special thanks to Steve Scearce for making the sound just right. The worship service was followed by a delicious reception in the Fellowship Hall. Many thanks to David, our choir and some special friends of the choir for so wonderfully reminding us once again of “the reason for the season.” Go to facebook.com/laurelpresbyterian to view a video of one o the songs.
