Easter 2017 Sanctuary Flowers

“Knowing and loving our neighbors as Christ loves us
and together discovering abundant life in him.”

Sunlight touches the sanctuary lilies on Easter morning; hymns of joy arise from the gathered congregation; the word of the ancient surprise once again goes out… The tomb is empty! He is risen! Jesus is indeed the Son of God!

Each year at Easter this scene is re-enacted in millions of churches around the globe with the words, “He is risen!” exclaimed in a myriad of languages and dialects. We, at Laurel, join the joyful throng recalling the event that changed the world… forever. The itinerant holy man from a small town in ancient Palestine who preached of forgiveness, justice and love was proven to be who had said he was, his very words now becoming the promise and teaching of the Bible.

For those who seek to trust their lives to Jesus Christ, Easter Day is an occasion to celebrate hope overcoming despair, the power of love triumphing over death and the promise relationship with the living God experienced as a current reality.

We hope that you will join the Laurel congregation on Easter Sunday, April 21 at 10:00 am as we celebrate the good news of the empty tomb and the promises of new life for all of us. We will be singing lovely, joyful hymns and our choir will inspire us with heartfelt anthems. Our Pastor, using both words and projected images on a screen, will present the ancient message in a way that speaks to the needs of every day people in the 21st century. And, there will be an Easter Egg hunt for young children at the conclusion of the service.

Laurel Church represents a congregation of individuals and families seeking a closer relationship with God as well as God’s grace and help in daily living. Ours is a  dynamic faith that welcomes questions and recognizes that sometimes we doubt.  Guided by the Holy Spirit, we seek together to work out the Lord’s will for us in our lives — at church, at work, at school, at home and at play.  If we can assist you in your search for hope, healing and purpose in life, please drop by or give us a call!

Laurel is a congregation that welcomes and affirms all regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender or physical or cognitive ability.

We usually meet for worship at 10:00 am on Sunday with engaging adult classes beginning at 8:45 am. Please check out other pages on this website to learn more about opportunities at Laurel Church.
