** Following the recommendation of our national leaders and the Presbytery, we are not holding Sunday services at the church. Enjoy a weekly sermon posted to the “Sermons” tab! **
“Knowing and loving our neighbors as Christ loves us and together discovering abundant life in him.”
Laurel Church has a lovely sanctuary where we usually worship on Sundays, but, with this photo, we wanted to highlight a recent service that was held outdoors amidst the sounds of traffic on Staples Mill Road.
As a small church, it is both fun and a push for us to organize a worship service on the lawn. Everyone has to work together to get the chairs and sound equipment, the music stands and bulletins out under the sun. For some, it was a little hot. For a few of our older members, the ground felt a little uneven. But for most of us, it was a chance to do something new and different… together… and to remind the Laurel community that the songs of praise that arose on that sunny morning occur regularly inside on Sundays.
Several of our neighbors joined us for worship, and we were pleased to welcome them. Laurel is a congregation that seeks to reach out to all members of our community in Christian love and encouragement. In addition to weekly worship, we offer Sunday class for adults and enrichment opportunities for children. In our common life, we pause regularly for fellowship and to have fun together.
We seek to make an impact in the lives of our neighbors by offering supplies for local schools, a reading program for preschoolers, assisting older folks with yard work, and providing seasonal food and gifts for nearby families, among other kinds of outreach.
We invite you to check out the pages of our website for words, images or activities that may intrigue you and/or offer you also an opportunity to grow with us in the Spirit.
Laurel Church represents a congregation of individuals and families seeking a closer relationship with God as well as God’s grace and help in daily living. Ours is a dynamic faith that welcomes questions and recognizes that sometimes we doubt. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we seek together to work out the Lord’s will for us in our lives — at church, at work, at school, at home and at play. If we can assist you in your search for hope, healing and purpose in life, please drop by or give us a call!
Laurel is a congregation that welcomes and affirms all regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender or physical or cognitive ability. We are an active congregation of the Presbyterian Church USA.
We usually meet for worship at 10:00 am on Sunday with engaging adult classes beginning at 8:45 am. Please check out other pages on this website to learn more about opportunities at Laurel Church.
